Why the blog?

I love food – cooking it, eating it, looking for it, looking at it, reading about it. When I am home I can be found dreaming about what I am going to make for dinner. When traveling I can be found dreaming about what I am going find for dinner. I travel – a lot – for pleasure often but mostly for business and mostly by myself.

As a dedicated foodie who is frequently on my own at meal times in a strange city I’ve found it hard to find good advice on where to go eat by myself. Eating out alone can be a daunting task – when I first started travelling alone I regularly talked myself out of going into an interesting looking restaurants alone. Now I just take along a good book and an unapologetic attitude towards taking up a two top all by my lonesome.

This blog is partly my attempt to remedy the lack of food reviews for the solo eater but it is mainly an excuse to motivate me to go on more food adventures.

Bio Type Stuff:

When not traveling I live in London in a flat full of cookbooks, kitchen gear and travel guides.  If I am not on a trip I am sure to be busy planning one. And even though I have recently become a full-time expat I have no plans to change the name of the blog.

Favorite foods:

Like any self proclaimed epicurean I love all sorts of flavors and cuisines and my tastes change with the seasons, but I would have to say that my palette tends towards big, spicy, Asian flavors. I have a serious preoccupation with street food, hawker stands and green markets of all kinds and will gladly travel halfway across any city to find them. I am incapable of acting rationally around unctuous, bloomy cheeses and I have gone to great lengths to smuggle raw milk varieties in my luggage.

Current travel plans:

Right now I am planning so many trips I cannot even remember what they are!
